While I am sure the Miami Heat will get their act together and be serious contenders for the NBA World Championship, it can’t hurt to reiterate that basketball is a team game. If a team does not have a quality supporting cast, they will not win; it’s impossible. Great players must surround themselves with other good players in order to win championships. Lebron James believes that the supporting cast he has in Miami is going to help him win a ring. It probably will, in due time. But his quest did not get off to a good start last night.
For us non-NBA playing folk, the lesson is clear: if you want to be successful in life, surround yourself with good people. The greatest and most capable person does not stand a chance to reach his or her potential without being surrounded by wise, knowledgeable, and experienced people, who can help make you the person that you are capable of becoming.
Good luck Lebron. I hope your team doesn’t hear the ‘overrated’ chant too often. Maybe you should have chosen to bring your talents to the Lakers.
