After 26 years and 310 consecutive conference losses, the Caltech Beavers finally won. And they did it in dramatic fashion. Playing in their final game of the season, the game was tied at 45 when Caltech Senior Ryan Elmquist hit the go-ahead free throw with three seconds left. He missed the second free throw but Occidental’s desperation heave at the buzzer fell short. While Elmquist’s stat line looks very impressive (23 points 9 rebounds 4 blocks), he has no intentions or aspirations to make his money in the NBA. He has decided to take his talents to Silicon Valley where he will be a computer program engineer for Google.
